the process of creating my fabric for this project was quite time consuming, however, the result made it worth it!!
i got my idea from doing the techniques with dissolvable fabric, i decided to make my whole garment out of it…
it started with ordering the fabric in order to create it, the lady who produced it was on holiday until monday 11th april, so i had to wait until the second week to begin making my garment, so i focused my first week on finishing up my book work.
once my fabric came, i began working straight away, but i discovered a dilemma...
the ratios of fabric was different! even though i had ordered the same amount (3m) it was different, so i ended up not having enough time to order more, and not enough fabric to create some parts of the garment!
i began with cutting up little bits of fabric that i had from my last projects, and also from the scarfs that i had bought in the charity shops, and i think this goes with my theme really well as i have used up my fabric waste to create the garment, which shows others that you can still use fabric for anything!
once i had cut up enough fabric, it was time to dissolve the outside! i put it in my bath and swirled it around a bit in order to dissolve the outside to get the fabric i between!
i then cut it to my patterns, and sewed them together in order to get my finished result!
i didn’t have too many problems with this project and it went quite smoothly, despite the odd thread breaking and accidentally sewing something backwards, but not many problems, which was very helpful due to it being quite a difficult one!
