Making leggings

This week, in patterncutting, we have created leggings to go along with our white shirts that we created for our white on white project.

What i did": to make them, i had to get some 30% stretch fabric, in order to get them so that they would stretch. I had to sew the on the overlocker, as you can't sew stretch fabric, with a normal straight stitch, as it would just rip, however, if you use an overlocker, the stitches will stretch. My pattern ended up being too tall, so the leggings were very long, so i had to eliminate some of the length at the hem.

How it went; i think it was quite successful, my waistband ended up being quite twisted, as i didnt distribute the elastic properly, so it was fine at the front, but the back was very gathered and twisty. I didnt use the cover stitch, as the machine kept on breaking ad sucking peoples leggings in, so i used a sewing machine, i used a similar looking stitch, which turned out very well.

What i would change: in the end i think they turned out very well, but i would change the waistband, of course, and then i would make sure i get my measurements right, so that i wouldnt have to cut the end off. The legs of the leggings were quite baggy. I think i would take in the sides in order to make it less baggy.
