This is my toile for my tailcoat jacket, i took inspiration for the pattern from different existing patterns, as well as fashion plates from the regency era to pick out different shapes and sea lines.
I think that this turned out really well and the shape is exactly as i wanted it. I didnt come up with any problems, apart from a small part in the lining. This toile took me a couple of days to make, so i am enthusiastic that i will efficiently be able to make this.
I need to practise 'roughing up' the jacket, to make it more worn in and older, to correlate with the story i came with for the jacket, which was that the phantom was looking for a jacket to wear for the masquerade ball, and since he lives in the basement of the opera house, he was looking in abandoned costume bins for a jacket to wear and found this one, and he fixed some bits with stitching to make it look more presentable, which works with his character as he cares about his appearance.
